Let's Try and do it - How to draw dot shaded pictures

Let's Try and do it - How to draw dot shaded pictures

How to draw Dot Shaded pictures
By Nadeem Mustafa
Abu Dhabi

Dot shaded pictures is a form of creative drawing which needs lots of patience. One can draw a small or big picture using these technique. However, if you are creating a bigger version, one needs to view it from a distance to enjoy it’s beauty.

What is required to create a dot shaded creation?
-----------------------------------------------------------

A person, who has the confidence, I will do it attitude, patience and time. Of course, you need the necessary paper and pen, preferably Pilot V5 High-tech 0.5mm.

How to draw?
-----------------

First, take a print of the image you want to draw using this technique. If you are taking a color variation of the picture, take it’s print out by adjusting brightness (+10) and dark variation (+10), and dark variation as black.

This will enable you to get the print out with the shades in it.

You will start drawing the picture looking at this shaded print out.

Beginners can use graph styled paper, creating outlines and sketches. You may also use rubber, pencil, and white ink for corrections.

While creating the face, normally, I start from the right eyelids , then eyes, then eyebrows, then nose etc. Then move on to the left eye. Distance between both the eyes should be carefully scaled. It is also very important to measure the distance of the nose.

Following the shades in the picture, the dots can be put, carefully leading from one point to another. Then start the lips. By the time you finish the lips, you will get an idea of the person whom you are trying to complete. If it is not coming out right at this point of time, you may have to start all over again.

This is just to begin with. Try out your first steps of Dot Shaded creations. In case you face any difficulties, you may contact me here, and I will be willing to guide you through with your queries.

Poetry - RAINY DAY, MY FAVOURITE DAY by Aroush Nihal Babu

RAINY DAY, MY FAVOURITE DAY

by Aroush Nihal Babu

Rainy days, they are wonderful days,
After rains, the puddle lays.

Kids go splash, in the puddles,
And watch rainbow in cuddles.

Moms make warm spicy snacks,
With dads pouring coffee from the flasks.

Boys are seen with paper boats,
Grandpas looking cool in their coats.

Babies frightened at the sound of thunder,
Grandmas comforting and holding them closer

People, who are tensed, watch the rains,
Your problems soon would go down the drains.

Rainy days, they are my favourite days,
Pray ,God makes more rainy days.

Dear participating members and Talent Share Fans,

I am sure you are all noticing that Talent Share blog and Fan page is passing through a period of several innovative changes. As part of a dedicated effort to make it as a “must place of visit online”, I have now introduced the following interesting topics in the Discussion section here:

1. Showcase your blogs, Face Book groups and Fan page:

Do you have an interesting blog, Face Book group or Fan page or web site to list. Do it here for the information and benefit of our fans. Please note to:

- provide the URL of your blog
- A short and sweet three sentence description which describes fully well about your site.
- Any postings on the walls will not remain forever, whereas this will be a permanent advertisement for your site.
- In addition, all the submitted sites, will be categorized and periodically displayed, and added to www.indianbloggersnest.blogspot.com

Do participate with interest.

Click here to visit this section.

2. Assignments and projects for Talent Share Fans

A new series of periodical assignments for participating fans, especially children have been introduced as part of developing collective participation amongst children and adults. The first of the series to come out from it is to post our school anthem, in text as well as in video.

Do participate with interest.

Click here to visit this section.

3. Visitors Book - You are welcome to post your greetings and blessings here

Talent Share Fans and Visitors are welcome to post their thoughts here. Please do not hesitate to add a few lines of your appreciation to the creativity of these little children. Introduce at least one child who you believe has a creative spark in him/her to www.talentshare.blogspot.com and Talent Share Fan page on Face Book.

Do participate with interest.

Click here to visit this section.

4. Suggestions on Theme for the month and notes for improvement

In this discussion, you may post your suggestions and notes for improvements for Talent Share activities. You may post the items you wish to see happening here in the coming months and also your suggestion notes of improvement to take it to more creative minds.

Do participate with interest.

Click here to visit this section.

5. Participating members log

Talent Share Fan page and blog is a systematically maintained activity. It is therefore important to have a certain set of discipline while posting, which will help me organize it easily and efficiently each time. Participants are therefore requested to post each time, the following details along with their creativity:

Name:
Class:
School:
Place:

In addition, any new member, please send a copy of the same information, with the following additional detail to the email : team1dubai@gmail.com

Name:
Class:
School:
Place:
e-mail:
Parent(s) name:
Parent(s) email:
Contact Telephone(s) :

This is to include your details in a permanent database for all the children/members participating in Talent Share activities.

Do participate with commitment.

Click here to visit this section.

6. Competition and Talent participation opportunities

Please do present here any participation or competition you come across so that children can attend and participate.

Do present any available opportunity for our members to inspire them to showcase their talent in bigger venues.

Click here to visit this section.

7. You Have an Idea - then present it here

This is a special section created as a group activity or even as an individual activity to develop the writing skills, in particularly community reporting skills of the children and adults alike.

Do participate with interest.

Click here to visit this section.

8. Your exams and special activity schedule

Las but not the least, your studies and exams are very important. Therefore, it would be interesting if you post here, your exam schedule. It will also give an insight to me for planning, and to slow down things during that period. In addition, it will give all of us a general idea about different schools and their style and duration of exams.

Do present this details for our overall benefit.

Click here to visit this section.

9. Please note that the theme for this month is “Rain, winter and Burj Khalifa”. Plans are in place to present a complete collection of the presented work to respectable groups/authorities to honor the creativity. So, please make sure your work (painting, drawing, poems, short stories etc...) are there in this exclusive presentation.

Do participate with interest.

10. I believe that participation of members with interest is more important than mere count on the membership meter. Talent Share is a Fan page created to exhibit Creativity. And therefore, it is my intention to keep it's wall with only creative presentation. All fans are kindly requested to not post any messages on it’s wall. Please make it a place for presenting creative presentations.

Do participate with interest.

11. As you all know, Talent Share does not remain a web based activity. I make sure, the concept is reaching schools here and around. It is done at my own pace and convenience and currently the concept is undergoing formal registration process and the activities happening here and the blog is monitored by authorities responsible for it. This is also the reason for the increased awareness of it through radio and the press.

12. Please do make it a point to visit and encourage each of the participants. Your guidance and comments are injections of inspirations for them to come back and present a more beautiful poem or poetry.

Thanking all of you in advance for joining Talent Share as a Fan. Please do invite any child or creative person, who you feel will benefit from this initiative.

Sincere regards,

Ramesh Menon

Poem - A wing and a prayer by Abdulla Essam - January 2010

Poem - A wing and a prayer
by Abdulla Essam

This is a poem about a persistent bee.
Always busy and never free.
He now finally has his weekend.
Shall he fly in schools or hang with his friend.
The school is closed and his friend is on holiday,
But he will not miss his weekend, no way.

So up to the mountains he flew.
He went alone, without a crew.
He found a man who weighed 102 pounds.
He seemed larger than three and a half hounds.

The man sat on a log having a sandwich.
A treat like that, the bee wouldn’t ditch.
It buzzed around, there was no one to hurt,
And got swatted without an alert.
The bee fell and landed in the sand.
With a bent wing, he tried to stand.

The man stepped on it with all his might,
but the bee was innocent, he didn’t want a fight.
The bee didn’t want to die, not like his brother, his sister, his uncle, nor his mother.
He didn’t want to meet the same fate,
So determination from the heart, he did create.

The bee kept trying to fly till he got it right.
Because it wasn’t time to see the light.
The man felt sorry, kneeling before the bee.
Now finally the bee is free.
You’re wrong if you think that’s the end.
That is the beginning of the bee’s rough weekend.

Poem on Burj Khalifa by Aroush Nihal Babu - January 2010

Poem on Burj Khalifa
by
Aroush Nihal Babu

Burj Khalifa, towering so high in the skies
Bigger than the Eiffel tower, Empire State building

Covering the skies like the Mighty king
So beautiful and shiny, such a masterpiece

With the moon as its crown and the stars on its robe
The Great and elegant Burj Khalifa

Words fail at its beauty, which will prevail for ever
Such great architecture is the Burj khalifa

Message to members - Creative themes for January 2010

Creative Themes for January 2010

Ok, it's winter, raining in the Middle East and Opening of Burj Khalifa in UAE.

As suggested by our members, let et that be the theme for January 2010. Any creative activity - drawing, painting, coloring, or poem or short story related to these could be presented.

That doesn't mean members cannot submit woks on any other topsi. The other day, I came across a friend whose young son wants to paint an elephant in yellow and he was compelling him to color it with black. The boys argument was - in Dubai, they paint statues of horses in different color, so why not my elephant in Yelllow? That ws an example of Creativity Unpluged.

So, wish you the very best to present your creative works with the following themes:

- winter.
- raining
- Burj Khalifa

To honor our commitment to the society and to involve ourselves as a group who values social responsibilities, I suggest each of the participating members to create any interesting item (drawing, coloring, posters, poetry, story etc) with regards to Health, Safety & Environment.

This particular topic, i.e. HSE will be permanent for every month. Post your ideas which you value match the importance of HSE around you, your school, your home, or society.

Talent Share would like to say thanks on behalf of all these little artist's to the arts and crafts teachers who teaches them the basic at school. Very soon, we will have a reward for such patrons in recognition for their encouragement. Schools, teachers, arts & crafts specialists - please note.

Regards,

Ramesh Menon

Message to Members - Various

Dear Fans of Talent Share,

1. A very happy and creative 2010 to all Fans of Talent Share.

2. New year always bring fresh vigour in our life and let us begin ours with a fresh set of creative thoughts. I am looking forward to more interactions and participation from all the Fans in their own possible way to encourage Talent Share initiatives. It could be made possible by two ways:

• guidance and comments each time a member present his/her creativity
• spreading the word around about Talent Share to any one who you feel may benefit from it

3. A big team is working constantly behind Talent Share. Yes, the team is “YOU” – each one of you. Every fan has a distinct role in promoting the participating members with encouragement, guidance and constructive criticism. This is one of the reason we have not earmarked any one with specific administrative roles for Talent Share.

4. As informed to you earlier, a printed album of submitted works by members of Talent Share is available for social organisations, voluntary/medical assistance groups & care centres etc for display. This is done to bring out an added sense of social involvement to the society by all the participating members of Talent Share. Those interested may contact me by email at team1dubai@gmail.com to receive it either electronically or by post.

5. As you all know, the “Celebrate Christmas 2009 and New Year 2010 with Talent Share” competition received interesting response and I thank each of the participant and their parents for the time and effort. Although, a panel of judges have been lined up for evaluation, I personally feel, each one of the participants deserve to be declared as winners for their interest and involvement when compared to numerous others who did not respond due to various reasons. I would like to know your comments on this.

6. I also look forward to your suggestions and ideas to take Talent Share to the next level from here. Consider it as your own initiative and do come forward without frequent pep talks and mails. As you have seen, things are happening instantaneously through constant creative thinking and our new year video was an example to it. It was the result of an email request to provide a three sentence wish greetings in own language and format to our regular participating members. Some responded with interest and the result happened to be a delightful flow of wish that was innovative for all.

7. Last but not the least, be a True Fan of Team 1 Talent Share :

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Team1Talentshare/128460166288?ref=sgm

Participate with interest and invite any one with interest in performing or non-performing arts (let it be drawing, sketching, coloring, poetry, writing, dance, music or any other) to take benefit of this initiative.

With god’s grace and good will, I am sure, 2010 will be continuously creative and inspiring.
