Short Stories -

Where is Your Paint Can?

Once, a man got a job to paint the yellow line passing through the center of the highway, by hand. He started working on it and after three days, his foreman complained about his quality of job, which he was doing for him. In an angry tone, he told him “Your first day out, you did well, and you painted the yellow line for three miles. On the second day, your performance was not bad as you painted two miles. But going into the third day, you painted only one mile..So, I am not happy with your performance and I will have to fire you from this job”.

The man was sad, and leaving the office of his foreman, he looked back and said..”Sir, it’s not my fault. I kept the paint can at the starting point of my work. Everyday, I moved further and further away from it.

Moral of this story:

This story illustrates how we complicate our lives at work and at home. If we lack insight into it, we will miss to see how we create additional stresses in our lives by our own deeds. It is very common that we look to a time management seminar or a book to tell us how to gain more time. Perhaps, we might do better to ask, "How can I simplify my life?"

Here is a brief questionnaire that can be used to evaluate whether you are unnecessarily making your tasks more difficult.

1.    What systems do I have, or need, that will make sure that I use my time, resources and materials in a practical manner?
2.    In what ways am I making my job more difficult because I walk back and forth between the unfinished "yellow line" and my paint can?
3.    Have I let a habit lock me into a routine that is not only counter productive, but also costs me time and a peaceful existence?
4.    How can I further simply my life at work and home so that I feel more in control and more productive?
5.    What unnecessary steps can I eliminate at work that will reduce the stress that I feel?

Like the man painting the yellow line by hand, if we fail to plan how to accomplish a task. We then lose sight of our ability to re-evaluate our activities and we may find ourselves walking the same path over and over again, but accomplishing less and less. If this becomes a habit, we may find ourselves on the road to burnout.

Taking a few minutes to analyze situations in which we have left our paint can far behind, rather than bringing it along, can lead to a happier more productive life.

Let us make it a point:

"I live and work in a simplified manner, and I frequently look up and survey my life to determine if I need to make adjustments.

Have a great week ahead.

Let's Try and Do It - Making of my little elephant

Let's Try and Do It - Making of my little elephant

It is summer holidays time and so let us take advantage of it from within our home. Let us Try and Create a Little Elephant.

It is very easy to create this little elephant following the simple instructions through this picture. What you need is just a combination of circles, boxes, lines and shapes, and fixing it up to get a cute little elephant.

The objective behind this exercise is to underline clearly that each and every participant, irrespective of whether he is an expert or a novice, are treated, guided and nurtured equally here at Team 1 Talent Share.

Secondly, this is a platform for exhibition of Talent and not a competition arena. Therefore, it is a request to children to submit their works, only when they feel, they have done it in complete form with out any rush or hurry. Even if they submit there entry and feel, they could redraw, or retouch it and present it, they could resubmit as a fresh one, so that we could realise the difference, the additions and enjoy the overall aesthetic beauty of each work presented.

This is an instinctive creative platform constantly worked on by me, and how and where the submitted works by you all reach and to what extent is unpredictable. Therefore, utilise this platform with dedication and devotion.

Bring in as many friends who has a creative talent in him or her.

Let their creativity motivate us to present better creative items each time we wish to. Do not hold your thoughts or do not have any inhibitions while you create your works. Accept criticism, if any, with good spirits and understand the mistakes and rectify it the next time you work.

Wish you all the very best.

Let's Try and Do it - Water Melon cultivation

Let's Try and Do it - Water Melon cultivation

Here is a simple Let's Try and Do It for your kids to participate and enjoy during the forthcoming holidays.
Do you have a small balcony, or a small piece of land. Then next time you go for your vegetable shopping, come back home a water melon fruit. Enjoy eating the fruit, selecting a few seeds separate.
Let your children plant those seeds in a pot and let it be watered mildly each day. In a few days, they will be thrilled to see the plant coming up and it will be growing fast. Put a little of manure if you have, otherwise also it will grow taking in the natural sources from the soil.
Attached photo is of a small time farming I have done in my balcony at Abu Dhabi.
Try it and send in pictures of your plantation. I am sure you will enjoy.

e Nidhi SREE Nidhi - an opportunity to support children who wants to study

e Nidhi SREE Nidhi - an opportunity to support children who wants to study

Dear Friends,

On behalf of Team 1 Talent Share group and blogs, I wish to encourage, motivate and support poor children to study and progress well in the life. With this in mind, I wish to initiate:

• A Scholarship in terms of a variety of assistance (monetary benefits, books, uniform, support etc) - to those children from families with difficulties to educate their children in the 10th, 12th and Degree education.

• Encourage them to join for higher studies in Engineering subjects (Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Engineering) and Medicine.

The idea now is to plan and provide:

• one cash award each for girls and boys for 10th, 12th and Graduation who gets high marks in the respective exams.

• additional bonus amounts ( in terms of cash) will be awarded according to:
  • The child's extracurricular abilities like skills in sports and arts will get extra rating.
  • His/her parents education (the lesser the education of the parent and the higher mark he gets, he will get a higher rating)
  • Any physical disabilities he/she has in life will get special consideration and rating
The above are the basic criteria I have thought about for initiating this scheme for the first time.

You can participate in two ways:

  1. If interested, you may join hands with me are welcome to contact me by email team1dubai@gmail.com.
  2. You may identify a needy child and introduce him/her and his/her parents to me so that as a team we could finalise what are their requirements for a successful educational environment to come up in life.
If identified, children in earlier classes of education will also be supported under this scheme.

It is also planned support and facilitate better reading room facilities in school and villages in the rural areas.

As we work ahead, we will fine tune the proposed scheme named e Nidhi SREE Nidhi and make it more attractive and interesting to those needy children in our community.

Thanking in advance my family and friends for the support for the success of this educational scheme.

Looking forward to your positive reply in this regard and then we will work on further to make it a reality.

True regards,

Ramesh Menon

No Matter How Far You Have Gone From Me.....Poem by Sanish Cherian

No Matter How Far You Have Gone From Me.....

So sure that my words will reach,
I write to the person whom you were
and are no more.

You withdrew from existence
To merge in the wider universe
And become
the past, present and future of time.

I witnessed
the long and hard way you climbed to the
dream.
Now, I witness how well you built the bridge
between existence and eternity.

Your existence
Was a hymn to life’s glory.
It blew my sails to life’s distant horizons
And powered my wings to
the furthest dimensions of imagination.

Your glorious embrace of eternity
Showed me how truly death
is an extension of life.

Be pleased.
You made me clearly discern
between life & survival.
I am pleased.
You are there
more than ever

Will Love You Always No Matter How Far You Have Gone From Me.....
